Khadija Abdi

There are days we broke our fast only with water...but after we got the food parcel from Orphans in Need we were able to eat a satisfying Iftaar and Suhoor.

Khadija Abdi moved into an IDP camp with her mother and four children, after she lost her husband. IDP camps are overflooded with refugees and are known for their lack of hygiene, food and clean water. Khadija worked as a cook in nearby houses for a living, but it wasn’t enough. Sometimes Khadija would bring home leftover food from work, but barely ate and prioritised her children’s hunger before her own. Khadija’s mother was also sick and unable to fast and with little nutritious food, her condition was deteriorating.

Alhamdulillah, our teams were able to reach Khadija and help her family in more ways than you can imagine. Not only did the food parcel help feed her children during Ramadan, it also helped give her mother energy to start recovering.
