The starving are now dying.

The price of food and basic medicine continues to increase every year, and it is now considered a luxury. In impoverished countries, the starving are now dying. Education is a distant dream, and something that is not even thought about.

Orphans and widows who are already struggling have no hope of feeding themselves, buying medicine, or going to school to climb out of poverty.

Now more than ever, your help will save their lives. They have nobody else.

Widow Family Sponsorship

Our Widow Family Sponsorship Programme of £750 will sponsor a widowed family and ensure that we are able to feed them for a whole year, provide sanitation products, essential medicine when necessary, and support in paying regular school fees.

Food parcels provide nutritious food staples such as rice, flour, lentils, pulses, vegetables, oil, spices, tea, sugar, and more. In addition, we make sure that all the produce is sourced locally with a focus on nutritional benefit and longevity.

We work in 14 countries worldwide. Namely Bangladesh, The Gambia, India, Jammu & Kashmir, Kenya, Mali, Nepal, Pakistan, Palestine (Gaza), Senegal, Sierra Leone, Somalia and Sri Lanka. We focus on long-term goals and sustainability in order to lift widowed families out of the cycle of poverty.

Your donation will be used to help the most vulnerable widowed families in impoverished communities like widowed mother and daughter Fattah and Aarifa who both lost their husbands. Learn more about their story below.

In a run down corner of Batthi Pora district of Kashmir, elderly Fattah Begum struggles to hold back tears as she remembers her late husband. "He worked as a weaver and worked so hard to feed his family", her voice cracking under the strain of a life she never expected to live. Her husband unexpectedly passed away, leaving her to live with her daughter Aarifa. Tragedy came to visit Aarifa too, however, as her own husband- the imam of the local mosque- developed dangerously high blood pressure and passed away as a young father of four.

With no support from the state and nobody at home to earn, the household often goes without food, the children are unable to access basic school supplies and the women are entirely dependent on occasional handouts from neighbours to survive.

"I am sick myself and have had two surgeries with another coming up." Aarifa's family have all felt the consequences of her poor health as her eldest daughter dropped out of school to take care of the home when her mother was too poorly to function. "We desperately need a safe home", Aarifa says as she tries to stop tears falling. "The cold keeps us up at night and we can barely sleep."

With recurring sickness and an unstable living situation, Fattah and Aarifa make up some of the most vulnerable people in the world. "All I want is for my children to grow up in a safe home, able to attend school like everyone else." As we observe a household on the brink of collapse this Ramadan, be the one to restore dignity and relief to those who deserve it most.
