Orphan Sponsorship

Orphan sponsorship helps the children facing immediate risks to their survival. Join Orphans in Need in their fight against the starvation, neglect, and abuse endured by orphan children. Sponsor an orphan and give the gift of hope to a vulnerable child today.

Imagine the heartbreak young children go through upon losing one or both parents! In areas hit by war, poverty or disaster, children left without a parent or carer are also faced with the challenge of providing for their survival. They are solely dependent on external support to avoid the grave dangers of exploitation, injury, disease, and death. Sponsoring an orphan gives disadvantaged children a chance to grow into healthy adults, achieve some of their dreams and make positive contributions to society.

Orphan Sponsorship in Islam

The Messenger of Allah (SAW) said about sponsoring an orphan:

“I and the one who sponsors an orphan will be in Paradise like these two – and he gestured with his forefinger and middle finger, holding them apart.” [Bukhari, 5304]

According to the above hadith, whoever sponsors an orphan will be in the company of the Prophet (SAW) in paradise. Orphan sponsorship is a virtuous deed in Islam. The believers are highly encouraged to look after the needy and the orphans in the Quran and hadith. There is a mention of people in need in many noble verses, with an emphasis on caring for them. Helping the vulnerable has been described as an expression of one’s belief in God and the afterlife. In one Surah, Allah (SWT) says:

“Have you seen the one who denies the Recompense? For that is the one who drives away the orphan. And does not encourage the feeding of the poor.” [Al-Ma’un 107:1-3]

According to another chapter:

“Indeed, he did not believe in Allah, the Almighty, and did not persuade (others) to feed the needy.” [69: 33,34]
