Qurbani is a symbol of submission to Allah (SWT). It is a noble act of worship and a confirmed Sunnah of the Prophet (SAW). Qurbani is an excellent form of charity on behalf of the believers. The Muslims are advised to offer sacrifice for the sake of Allah (SWT) in the Quran.
“Therefore turn in prayer to your Lord and sacrifice (to Him only).”
[al-Kawthar 108:2]
Another verse mentions the purity of intention and sincerity of heart.
“Say, ‘My prayer, my offering, my life and my death are for Allah, the Lord of all the worlds’.”

The believers perform Qurbani in imitation of the great sacrifice of Prophet Ibrahim (Peace be Upon Him). Qurbani involves slaughtering an animal, e.g., a cow, a sheep, or a goat, in the path of Allah (SWT). The able Muslims sacrifice a particular animal after performing the Eid-al-Adha prayer. Qurbani is performed during the stipulated days (also known as days of tashriq), which begin on the first day of Eid and last until the thirteenth of Dhul Hijja. The Prophet (SAW) said:
“All of Mina is the place of sacrifice, and all the days of al-tashriq are days of sacrifice.”
Eid-al-Adha 2024 will begin near the time of 17 June. According to this, Qurbani can be offered until 20 June, but the exact dates will be determined by moonsighting. It is important to make the necessary arrangements in a timely manner to achieve the promised reward in the days of sacrifice. With timely Qurbani donations, you can fill several hungry stomachs.
It is best to offer Qurbani in person and distribute its meat to people in need. However, it is also permissible to appoint someone else to perform the offering on your behalf.

“It is neither their flesh nor their blood that reaches Allah, but what does reach Him is the taqwa (the sense of obedience) on your part. Thus, He has made them (the animals) subjugated to you so that you proclaim Allah’s glory for the guidance He gave you. And give good news to those who are good in their deeds.”

According to a report from the Prophet (SAW), he expressed his disapproval of those who do not do Qurbani despite the power and ability to do so.
“Whoever can afford it but does not offer a sacrifice, let him not come near our prayer-place.”
[Ibn Majah, hadith no. 3123]
