Give the Gift of Joy this Eid

Eid ul-Fitr is a significant day within the Islamic calendar, a day of celebration that marks the end of the month of Ramadan and the first day of Shawwal. It is a time of love, laughter and precious moments spent with our loved ones, filling our homes with happiness and joy, where children also look forward to receiving gifts.

The day begins with the congregational Eid prayer, followed by friends and families getting together to celebrate this joyous day. It is a day that reminds us of gratitude, unity and generosity.

However, for millions of orphaned children across the world, Eid can be very different. Without any family support, many of these children have no means to celebrate the day. Whilst other children receive gifts and enjoy their festive meals, orphaned children within vulnerable communities spend the day like every other.

This Eid, you have the opportunity to share the joy of Eid with these children. Through the Orphans in Need Eid Gifts appeal, you are able to help these vulnerable children experience the happiness and excitement of Eid as every child should.

None of you will believe until you love for your brother what you love for yourself.

The Spirit of Giving on Eid ul-Fitr

An Eid gift might sound simple; however, for an orphaned child, it could mean the world to them. For £20, you are able to provide an Eid gift that can include essential clothing, toys, or food items. These gifts will not only bring joy to these children but remind them that they haven’t been forgotten about and are cared for.

Islam encourages believers to share their blessings with those in need. With many Muslim families giving gifts to their own children on the day of Eid, donating an Eid gift for an orphan child is a beautiful way to extend this happiness.

Orphans in Need works to ensure that these gifts are able to reach vulnerable children living in the poorest communities across the world. With your support, children can receive something special, allowing them to feel the warmth of the Muslim Ummah. Providing an Eid gift will also fulfil the spirit of generosity that Islam teaches during this time of joy.

Allah tells us in the Quran “And whatever good you do, Allah knows it well” [Quran 2:197]

The Importance of Caring for Orphans in Islam

Caring for orphans holds a special place in Islam. Allah tells us in the Quran “And they give food in spite of love for it to the needy, the orphan, and the captive.” [Qur’an 76:8], this highlights the importance of sharing our blessings with those most in need. Supporting an orphaned child is not only an act of charity but an act of faith.

I and the one who sponsors an orphan will be in Paradise like these two” – and he gestured with his forefinger and middle finger, holding them apart.
