What is Qurbani

Qurbani in India

Last year, your Qurbani reached hundreds of thousands of orphan and widow families. Donate your Qurbani in India from just £25.

Your Qurbani had the power to feed hundreds of thousands of widows and orphan families last Eid al-Adha. Continue the support this year from only £25.

India is continuing to reel from the aftereffects of the impact of the COVID-19 crisis - according to the WHO, India had the second-highest number of confirmed cases in the world. The death and destruction that it wreaked on the economy and families across the country have thrown hundreds and thousands of widows and orphans even deeper into poverty and malnourishment. As we enter the time of Eid and Qurbani in India, you have the opportunity to donate your Qurbani online and alleviate the suffering of many.

As your chosen charity, we will source the Qurbani meat locally in India, ensuring widows and orphans have access to healthy, nutritious meals this Eid al-Adha.

Donate your Qurbani 2025 for India online to an orphan and widow family for £25.

It is neither their meat nor their blood that reaches Allah (SWT), but it is piety from you that reaches him.

Surah Al-Hajj 22:37

It is neither their meat nor their blood that reaches Allah (SWT), but it is piety from you that reaches him.

What is Qurbani & why it’s important to make a Qurbani donation in India?

Qurbani takes place during the Islamic month of Dhul Hijjah and Muslims around the world slaughter an animal, usually a goat, sheep or camel. This is to reflect the Prophet Ibrahim’s willingness to sacrifice his son Ismail for the sake of God. Once the animal is sacrificed its meat is distributed to those most in need.

Performing Qurbani for the sake of Allah (SWT) is a way for Muslims to reach the level of submission shown by Prophet Ibrahim (AS). The Prophet’s story shows his high level of faith (Iman), his certainty and reliance upon Allah (SWT) in knowing what is best for him (Tawakkul). He was prepared to give up that which was most precious to him in order to seek the pleasure of Allah (SWT).

Prophet Ibrahim (AS) is a great role model for Muslims across the world and they should use the opportunity of Qurbani to gain closeness to Allah (SWT). Qurbani is also a way for Muslims to reflect on their relationship with Allah (SWT) and the importance of putting Him before anyone or anything in their life. Plus, Muslims are reminded to give up things that could harm their faith and to increase their good deeds.

Qurbani instils important values in Muslims’ lives such as devotion and submission to Allah (SWT), as well as righteousness. Muslims can gain empathy for the less fortunate across the world and ensure that those in need can celebrate Eid without worrying about how to feed their family. For many vulnerable families, Eid-ul Adha is the only time they can eat meat during the year.

Your Qurbani in India can help many vulnerable families, widows and orphans by providing a substantial meal to celebrate Eid-ul Adha. Make your Qurbani donation for India to Orphans in Need now.

And they [the righteous] give food in spite of love for it to the needy, the orphan, and the captive.

Qur'an 76:8

When is Qurbani?

Qurbani falls on the 10th, 11th, and 12th of Dhul Hijjah, which, in the UK, is predicted to begin on the 6th or 7th of June 2025 depending on the sighting of the new moon of Dhul Hijjah. Qurbani is delivered on the three days of Eid and signifies the difficult decision Prophet Ibrahim (AS) made to sacrifice his son, Ismail (AS), for the sake of Allah (SWT).

How you can make a Qurbani donation?

If you are eligible to make a Qurbani donation (i.e., meet the Nisab threshold), then you are expected to make a sacrifice of an animal, usually a goat, sheep or camel, that is then distributed amongst friends, family, and people experiencing poverty.

And they [the righteous] give food in spite of love for it to the needy, the orphan, and the captive.

Qur'an 76:8
