Allah tells us in the Quran,
"And We have not sent you, [O Muhammad], except as a mercy to the worlds."

What Happened in Rabi Al Awwal?
So, what happened in Rabi Al Awwal that makes it such an important month? The most well-known event to have taken place in this month is the birth of the Prophet Muhammad (Peace be Upon Him). Though the exact date of his birth differs between scholars, many believe he was born in the Year of the Elephant, around 570 CE. His birth marked the start of a life that would change the course of history.
Another event that took place in this month is the migration from Makkah to Medina, in which the Prophet (Peace be Upon Him) left Makkah with his companions in search of safety to practice Islam without the hardship and persecution he was living in. It was in the month of Rabi Al Awwal in which the Prophet (Peace be Upon Him) arrived in Medina, and where the first Muslim community was built based on faith, brotherhood and justice.
Sadly, Rabi Al Awwal is also remembered as a time in which the Prophet Muhammad (Peace be Upon Him) passed away. His passing was a large loss for the Muslim community, but his teachings were left behind and remain alive today through the Quran and his Sunnah.
