The Last 10 Days of Ramadan and MyTenNights

Why are the last 10 days so important?

Ramadan is broken down into three stages known as ashuras. Each ashura is made of 10 days, the first 10 days are for mercy, the second 10 days are for forgiveness and the third 10 days are for protection from hellfire. Ramadan is full of blessings and opportunities for Muslims to seek God’s mercy and forgiveness, but the last 10 days bring more virtues.

Muslims believe that the Qur’an was first revealed to the Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) in the last 10 days of the holy month as mentioned in the Qur’an:

‘We have indeed revealed this (Message) in the Night of Power.’ (97:1)

Muslims will devote themselves in prayers and recitation of the Qur’an to please Allah SWT. It is a chance for every believer to have their sins forgiven and become closer to Allah SWT, it is a time for spiritual healing.

What is Laylat al Qadr?

Laylat al Qadr, or the Night of Power, is the night where the first verses of the Qur’an were revealed to the Prophet Muhammed (PBUH) by the Angel Jubrail (Gabriel). The date of which Laylat al Qadr falls on is not certain but Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) recommendation is to, “Seek it in the last 10 days, on the odd nights,” making every odd night important but more specifically, the 27th night.

Why is it important to donate on Laylat al Qadr?

The Qur’an says in surah Al-Qadr that ‘the Night of Power is better than a thousand months’. Everything done in the name of Allah on this night has its rewards multiplied, which is why many people give to charity (Sadaqah or Zakat) during this time, allowing them to gain the most of these benefits.

What do Orphans in Need do with your donations?

When using MyTenNights you can choose which charity and cause you wish to donate towards. For Orphans in Need, you can choose to give food to orphan and widow families, sponsor an orphan, or give your zakat.

  1. Giving food means you can feed an orphan and widow family for a month. One of our food parcels gives an average family of five people enough supplies like rice and flour to keep them going for a month.
  2. By sponsoring an orphan, you are making sure that an orphan is given education, food, healthcare, and clothes for as long as you support them.
  3. Your zakat helps powerless orphans and widows with what they need most including urgent medical care and water. In all cases, your zakat goes straight to societies most vulnerable.

‘Never miss Laylat al Qadr’

That is the motivation behind the automated donation platform.

MyTenNights is dedicated to making giving to charity easier and more efficient during the last 10 days of Ramadan. The online donation platform allows you to make one payment that they will automatically spread over the last 10 days, ensuring that you have donated on each of the most important nights during Ramadan, with additional functionality to allow more of your donation to be delivered on the 27th night.

With busy lifestyles, it’s easy to forget to complete a single donation, let alone 10. We’re either working too hard, have a busy schedule, or are too tired to do anything, so by giving once through MyTenNights you are guaranteeing your donations cover the most important days of the Holy month.

Orphans in Need are happy to be working with MyTenNights for another blessed Ramadan. To find out more about them click here
