Gaza has been going through an unprecedented crisis in recent history. The situation in Gaza is complex and desperate, where more than 20,000 orphans are waiting to be rescued. Due to the ongoing strikes, the number of orphaned children is increasing on a daily basis. The current death toll stands at 28,663, and the number of injured people remains at 68,395. Gaza’s healthcare system has been severely affected and is barely functioning. A lack of the required medical care puts individuals at risk of losing their lives. In these dire circumstances, there is an ever-increasing need to support the remaining people and children of Gaza.
It is important to keep on raising awareness about the condition of orphans in Gaza. According to intellectuals and philanthropists, a permanent ceasefire is the only solution to save the people of Gaza. Extending a helping hand to distraught children is a great deed of worship. Giving to charity in times of great need is one of the dearest acts in the sight of Allah (SWT). Muslims are strongly encouraged to help those going through trials and hardship. The Prophet (SAW) is reported to have said:
“The best of deeds is making the believer happy, such as covering his awrah, satisfying his hunger or meeting his need.” [al-Tabarani]
In another hadith, The Prophet (SAW) mentioned the promise of Allah’s (SWT) mercy for those who try to remove the distress of vulnerable people.
“The Muslim is the brother of his fellow Muslim; he does not wrong him or let him down. The one who meets the needs of his brother, Allah will meet his needs. Whoever relieves a Muslim of distress, Allah will relieve him of distress on the Day of Resurrection.” [Bukhari 2442]
The obligation of Zakat and emphasis on voluntary charity highlight the importance of supporting those in need. Allah (SWT) says in the Quran:
“Those who spend their wealth (in Allah’s Cause) by night and day, in secret and in public, they shall have their reward with their Lord. On them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve” [al-Baqarah 2:274]
The scale of destruction in Gaza baffles human consciousness. There is a dire need to help the suffering children and individuals of Gaza.
