This is a 4-day endurance cycling challenge covering approximately 550km from Makkah to Madinah between 24–27 December 2026. The challenge retraces the historic Hijrah journey of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, combining physical endurance with spiritual reflection while raising vital funds for orphaned children

The challenge aims to raise awareness and funds for vulnerable orphans supported by Orphans in Need. Every participant will contribute towards providing essential care such as food, shelter, education, and healthcare.

  • Registration Fee: £1,000
  • Minimum Fundraising Target: £4,000

Your place is secured once the registration fee is paid.

The registration fee typically contributes towards:

  • Flights
  • Accommodation during the challenge
  • Support vehicles and logistics
  • Meals during the ride
  • Route planning and safety support

This challenge is designed for experienced long-distance road cyclists only. Participants must:

  • Have proven endurance cycling experience
  • Be physically fit and capable of riding long distances over multiple days
  • Be confident riding in challenging conditions

No — due to the distance and intensity, this challenge is not suitable for beginners. Participants must already have experience in endurance cycling and training.

Participants should be comfortable cycling:

  • 100–150km per day
  • Consecutive long-distance days
  • In warm and physically demanding conditions

A structured training plan is highly recommended in the months leading up to the challenge.

You will be supported with:

  • A personalised fundraising page
  • Guidance and ideas for fundraising
  • Templates and resources
  • Ongoing support from the team

Most participants raise funds through family, friends, workplace giving, and community networks.

We will provide:

  • Support vehicles and mechanical assistance
  • First aid and medical support
  • Route guidance and coordination
  • Team leaders and experienced support staff

Your safety is a top priority throughout the journey.

Accommodation will be arranged throughout the challenge, ensuring riders are well-rested and prepared for each day.

You will need:

  • A road bike suitable for endurance cycling
  • Helmet (mandatory)
  • Appropriate cycling gear
  • Hydration and nutrition supplies

While not a religious obligation, the route reflects the historic Hijrah journey, offering a unique opportunity for spiritual reflection alongside physical challenge.

Spaces are limited and allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. Early registration is strongly recommended.

Support vehicles will be available if needed. However, participants are expected to train adequately and commit fully to the challenge.

Yes — the airline will accept bike boxes. Participants are responsible for ensuring their bikes are securely packed in appropriate bike boxes or travel cases in line with airline requirements. Further guidance on packing and transport will be shared ahead of departure.
