Sponsor an Orphan
Helping orphan children live a happier and healthier life from just £30.
For Eid 2027, we are providing cooked Eid meals to needy widows and their orphan children for just £10. When you give a meal, you can help feed tens of thousands, or more, orphans and widows, and spread happiness and joy on this special day.
"(The righteous are those) who feed the poor, the orphan and the captive for the love of God, saying: 'we feed you for the sake of God Alone; we seek from you neither reward nor thanks.’”
[Quran 76:8]
During Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha, communities come together to celebrate through acts of devotion, gifts, and a delicious home-cooked meal. Families, friends and the wider community follow traditions and practice Sunnah – acts that the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) willingly performed himself. Many families connect closer to Allah (SWT) through prayer before enjoying festive Eid meals together. As well as this, Muslims are encouraged to dress in their best clothes, shower and use miswak and perfume.
Unfortunately, not everyone can celebrate in the same way around the world. Those in vulnerable communities, such as widows and orphans, don’t have the means to mark the occasion. Many widows are mistreated and neglected, being put through trauma that negatively impacts their mental health. They have no one to depend on, as widows relied on their partners to provide for them. This means that they never get a nutritious meal and can’t indulge in delicious dishes to celebrate Eid. In fact, when you donate, it typically is the first time a widow and their orphaned children have a healthy meal. They can’t afford to put food on the table, especially meat, so why not give them the joy of a cooked meal and give them happiness to celebrate Eid properly?
Donate an Eid meal to charity to provide nutritious, cooked food to those who desperately need it for just £10. You can make Eid a day full of enjoyment for our widows and orphaned children, allowing them to celebrate together.
“The one who looks after and works for a widow and for a poor person is like a warrior fighting for Allah’s cause.”
[Sahih Bukhari]
The Prophet (PBUH) also married an older widowed woman, Khadijah, his first wife. Muhammad (PBUH) believed that taking care of widows was a noble thing and so married accordingly to his beliefs.
It is a noble deed to look after the vulnerable and treat widows in the same way the Prophet (PBUH) did. This is why it’s vital to give a meal to a widow and their orphaned children to transform their lives and support them. As well as this, giving the gift of a healthy meal to a widow allows a Muslim to achieve a high form of charity that will bring spiritual reward. It is believed that giving to widows and orphans will allow a Muslim to enter eternal Jannah (heaven) with the beloved Prophet (PBUH) as he said:
“I and the caretaker of the orphan will enter Paradise together like this, raising (by way of illustration) his forefinger and middle finger jointly, leaving no space in between.”
[Bukhari]
At Orphans in Need, we have successfully delivered over 10 million Eid meals to orphans and widows, and we aren’t stopping there. With your help, we can reach even more vulnerable communities with cooked meals to help end hunger and spread joy on Eid.
An Islamic food donation to widows and orphaned children will not only increase a believer’s spirituality but also provide sustenance to those most in need. Your donation can feed many widows and their orphaned children, providing a nutritious meal that they never get to have on the blessed days of Eid. This can help them nourish their bodies and join in with the celebrations of the day.
When you donate a meal to charity, you spread joy to these vulnerable families and prevent them from facing life-threatening consequences, such as starvation. Many widows skip meals and, without your help, will go hungry on Eid. No one should face hunger and starvation every day, especially on joyous occasions such as Eid. Donate a meal today to give widows happiness and health this Eid.
Give a widow a cooked meal and help make this Eid enjoyable.
