"As the Field Coordinator in North Gaza, my work focuses on reaching the most vulnerable families who have been displaced and are living in constant fear. I often find myself in the most dangerous areas, especially during times of conflict, where access to basic aid is limited, and the need is greatest.
Every day, I travel into these high-risk regions, determined to ensure that no one is left behind. I know that for many, the support we provide is a lifeline. Whether I’m delivering food, medicine, or simply offering a comforting presence, I am committed to being there for those who need it most, even if it means putting my own safety on the line.
The work is incredibly challenging, and the conditions are harsh, but what keeps me going is the resilience I see in the people I meet. The children, especially, inspire me. Despite everything they’ve endured, they continue to show courage and hope. This gives me the strength to keep moving forward, knowing that my efforts, no matter how small, are helping them survive another day.
I dream of a future where these families can live without fear, where the children I meet have the opportunity to grow up in safety and build better lives. This is why I do this work: because I believe that by standing with the most vulnerable, we can help them create a better tomorrow."
"My name is Amany, and I serve as an accountant managing the financial aspects of our humanitarian projects in Gaza. My work may often be behind the scenes, but I know that every financial decision I make directly impacts the lives of orphans, widows, children, and vulnerable communities who depend on our support. Whether I’m preparing budgets or financial reports, I do it with a deep sense of responsibility, knowing that every resource we manage is essential to the people we serve.
The current war has profoundly affected me. I lost my beloved husband, and my two sons were injured. The pain of these personal losses, combined with the fear and uncertainty that comes with being a mother and widow in Gaza, is overwhelming. Yet, these hardships only strengthen my resolve to continue my work. I understand more than ever the importance of the aid we provide—how it’s a lifeline for families who, like mine, are living through unimaginable pain.
Despite my own grief, I remain committed to supporting the community. I work with a sense of duty not just for the people of Gaza, but also for my sons, who I want to grow up in a safer, better world. This work is my way of helping others survive, rebuild, and hope for a future without fear. I do it because I believe that even in the darkest times, solidarity and hope can guide us forward.
My hope for Gaza is simple: a future where children, families, and communities can live in peace and security. I dream of a time when my sons and all the children here can grow up in a place free from hardship, and I am committed to using my skills and efforts to make that vision a reality."
"My name is Baraa, and I serve as a project coordinator. I graduated from Al-Azhar University in Gaza with a degree in English and French. In my role, I coordinate with team members to ensure that our projects are delivered on time, develop work plans that align with project goals, and monitor the progress of each initiative.
Before the war, I worked at the institution’s headquarters in Gaza City. Now, due to the ongoing conflict, I work remotely from home with very limited resources. The daily power outages, internet disruptions, and frequent communication breakdowns make even basic tasks challenging. I often rely on a mobile phone to do my work, borrowing a laptop from a neighbor when possible. But the circumstances of the war make it difficult to maintain stable communication, and there are times when I can't reach families in need because of these technical issues.
The war has directly impacted my own life. My home was destroyed in an Israeli airstrike on October 25th, which also led to the loss of 160 lives in my neighborhood, including 11 people inside my own building. Since then, my family and I have been forced to move multiple times, staying in a small room in my husband's family home and later at my father’s house, which was also partially bombed. The ongoing violence, along with the rising cost of living and the interruption of salaries, makes it difficult to meet even basic needs.
Despite these personal challenges, my commitment to this work has never wavered. Every day, I do my best to coordinate the projects that support orphans and families in Gaza. My team and I are working under extreme pressure, but we understand the importance of our mission. We continue to check on families, gather their stories, and try to provide any relief we can. The number of orphans has increased dramatically due to the war, and our work has become even more urgent.
I hope that one day soon, this war will end, and we can resume our lives in safety. I look forward to the day when I can see my colleagues again, as we continue our work together to support those who have lost everything. Through all the hardship, we remain determined to stand by the orphans and their families, providing the care and hope they so desperately need."My hope for Gaza is simple: a future where children, families, and communities can live in peace and security. I dream of a time when my sons and all the children here can grow up in a place free from hardship, and I am committed to using my skills and efforts to make that vision a reality."
"My name is Fatima Alwan, and I am the Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Officer in Gaza. My role centers on ensuring that the aid we provide to orphans, widows, and vulnerable families is effective, impactful, and truly meets their needs. I conduct field visits to assess the distribution of aid, track its outcomes, and gather feedback from the communities we serve to improve our programs and make them as responsive as possible.
As an M&E Officer, my work involves collecting and analysing data to measure the success of our interventions. I closely monitor how resources are allocated, evaluate the results of our efforts, and ensure that every decision made improves the lives of those who need it most. My job requires precision and attention to detail, as the effectiveness of our aid relies on the accurate assessment of the needs of the people we support.
Fieldwork is demanding, but it’s essential. It takes me directly into the homes of families who are struggling to survive in the midst of ongoing conflict. By meeting with orphans and widows, I hear their stories firsthand and understand the challenges they face. This allows me to tailor our programs in a way that ensures every intervention is as impactful as possible. I’m proud to know that through my work, we can improve the lives of those who have already endured so much hardship.
In an environment where resources are limited, my role helps guarantee that our programs remain accountable, transparent, and efficient. By continually evaluating our efforts, I identify areas for improvement, ensuring that the support we provide is both timely and meaningful.
My hope is that the communities we serve will become more resilient and empowered. Through careful monitoring and thoughtful intervention, I am committed to helping families rebuild their lives and secure a better future. The people we support deserve nothing less than our best efforts, and I am honored to play a part in that."
